'I am very sorry to report that a patient who tested for Covid-19 sadly passed away over the weekend,' director of Public Health Dr Nicola Brink said.
'The patient was in their 80s.
'I offer my sincere condolences to their family and friends and ask that their privacy is respected at this extremely sad time.'
This announcement will inevitably concern the community as it confirms the stark reality that, for some this virus is extremely dangerous, even if for the majority it causes relatively mild symptoms.
President of Health & Social Care Deputy Heidi Soulsby said: 'I am sure the community will join me in offering condolences to the family and friends affected by this sad news.

'Please share this information with family and friends who don’t have easy access to the internet.'
More than 1,000 tests have now been carried out in the Bailiwick, which has found 154 confirmed cases of the virus.
871 tests returned negative results and 84 results are still pending.
27 people have recovered from the virus.
