Linda Coughlan went to St Sampson’s School and then Ladies’ College.
She left school aged 16 after her father suffered a heart attack and she had to help out at home.
‘I have had a good life and I’ve done it all my way,’ she said.
Mrs Coughlan said the secret to a long life was to keep breathing. Her late husband was Raymond and they had a son, Anthony. Her only living relatives now are a nephew and a great niece.
During the Occupation, Mrs Coughlan worked at Creasey’s furniture depot and later in an office.
On one occasion, after she had been cheeky to a member of the occupying forces, the man pointed a gun at her before another German told him to put the weapon down.
