Queen's personal message to islanders on significant anniversary of liberation

THE QUEEN said she was pleased to hear that Guernsey will find innovative ways to mark Liberation Day during these trying times.

At 2pm, in a personal message from Her Majesty, the Queen sent her thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Bailiwick of Guernsey on the 75th anniversary of the liberation from enemy occupation.

'At this increasingly challenging time, I was pleased to learn that you will still be commemorating and celebrating this significant anniversary with a small number of symbolic events,' she said.

'As you remember the difficulties faced by islanders who lived through evacuation, enemy occupation and deportation during World War 2, it is my sincere hope that you will still be able to come together as a community using technology.'

To her most loyal people in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, she sent her best wishes for islanders' continued safety and prosperity.
