This year, leavers turned the ‘uniform jump’ into a fundraiser for the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation’s Southampton-based flat for families of premature babies that require special care.
The flat is called Aggie’s Burrow, in memory of the Vauvert students’ former classmate, Aggie Nicolle, who sadly died from neuroblastoma in 2016.
Aggie’s family stayed in one of the PPBF’s other flats next to Southampton hospital during her treatment.
The properties are a safe haven for families and the charity spends around £30,000 a year on their upkeep and maintenance.
Sammy Meerveld, from the PPBF, praised the children.
‘These kids are incredible. Every year they’ve done something lovely to remember their friend Aggie and support Aggie’s Burrow so I want to say a big thank you to them all, their parents and their teachers.’
Phoebe Miles said she was excited to jump in wearing her uniform but hoped the water would not be too cold.
‘I’m happy that we are able to do something in memory of Aggie,’ she said. ‘We always talk about her.’
Isla Griffiths said she felt proud to jump in the sea in her uniform and raise money for Aggie’s Burrow.
‘We [Holly Ingrouille, Amelia Roberts and I] were best friends with Aggie so we like doing things to honour and remember her.’
Collas Crill had given 100 vouchers to the charity for Pirate Bay Adventure Golf which the PPBF handed out to the students after their jump in the sea.
