Speed king Zef sets UK record for fastest in Porsche
LOCAL speed enthusiast Zef Eisenberg has managed to get a host of accolades at a recent UK speed event, including the record for the fastest Porsche in the UK.

During lockdown Mr Eisenberg and his Madmax team managed to turn the road legal Porsche 911 Turbo into a record-breaking machine.
On Saturday 18 July the team travelled to the UK for a Vmax200 event in Leicestershire to put their vehicles to the test on an airfield.
There he managed to set the record for the fastest Porsche in the UK, travelling at 240 miles per hour, as well as three event records – fastest quarter mile (one way) wheel powered record, fastest half mile (one way) wheel powered record and fastest top speed at the event.
‘The team have worked tirelessly on the engine to ensure that it can withstand three miles of full power, with well north of 1,000hp at the wheel, which is no mean feat for a road legal car,’ Mr Eisenberg said.
‘Much work has been done to still make it safe and road legal.
‘We had to ensure that it still had the ability to drive in traffic jams without overheating and that I could actually drive to the event and fill her up with regular unleaded along the way.
‘There’s even room for a cup holder between the roll cage for my takeaway coffee. It’s a 240mpg, 1820kg, one-off Porsche built by us.’
This was the first Vmax200 event since lockdown and restrictions were still in place, meaning there were no spectators.
But about 120 of the fastest, most powerful vehicles in the UK were there and Mr Eisenberg said there was a great atmosphere.
Most of those vehicles have to arrive on trailers, but not Mr Eisenberg’s Porsche 911.
‘The hardest part of the build was making sure that the Porsche 911 remained fully road legal,’ he said.
‘This is no trailer queen or stripped-out race car the interior has been kept as standard with its luxury full leather interior trim, road tyres, air con etc, plus road legal exhausts.
‘The only difference is that it features a full FIA sanctioned six-point roll cage, race seats and six-point harness, door bars and carbon cup race doors, a very powerful race engine and a newly fitted parachute.’
While it is road legal, Guernsey’s low speed limits would not be good for the vehicle, so islanders will not be seeing it on local roads.
As for Mr Eisenberg, he has spent several weeks in the UK and will be returning shortly to do his two week’s self-isolation.
