Named AGgie, her horn was snapped off with an ear needing rebuilding, cracks filled, and a re-touch of paint.

If anybody has the horn they are asked to please return it, and apologise if it was a genuine accident.

Mandy Rowlinson, Autism Guernsey fundraising manager, said the damage was gutting to see.

The police were contacted to review CCTV.

‘That way we’re hoping we can do something, and if not I don’t know what we can do,’ Mrs Rowlinson said.

All proceeds from the Golden Guernsey Goat Trail auction on 15 September will be split between Autism Guernsey and the Guernsey Adult Literacy Project.

This particular goat is being raffled, with many islanders having already bought £5 tickets, and has a jigsaw puzzle design which is the theme for autism.

AGgie artist Peter Sirett spent around 70 hours on it, and has supported Autism Guernsey in the past.

‘It’s a charity, and I think it is a very deserving one,’ Mr Sirett said.

‘They’re a good bunch, they work so hard and have been through so much trouble, and then for someone to go and do something like this... It’s not just any goat either, it’s the Autism Guernsey goat.’

Repairs will be attempted to return AGgie to a watertight and attractive state for the raffle.

Mr Sirett said with the horn he could patch it up in an hour.

‘It could have been an accident, it looks as though it’s been knocked over.

‘I’m sure they could phone and apologise. It was fun to do, but it is a bit unfortunate.

‘Hopefully it isn’t damaged beyond repair.’

He said that if it were, he could incorporate the damage into the new design.
