Aurigny will be using jet for Manchester route in summer
AURIGNY’S jet is set to knock 10 minutes off the journey time between Guernsey and Manchester next summer, as the airline confirmed the larger, faster aircraft would operate most weekday services on the route.
The airline has published its summer 2022 timetable.
Ordinarily the 72-seater Aurigny ATR 72 operates the Guernsey to Manchester service, with a travel time of about one hour and 25 minutes.
But during the summer months, on most services between Monday and Thursday, this will be cut to one hour and 15 minutes by using the 122-seater Embraer 195.
That excludes Wednesdays, when the plane will be used for the airline’s summer Malaga service.
The airline is offering only a mid-morning service to Manchester on most weekdays, but a red-eye service on Fridays and two services on Sundays.
The jet ordinarily is mostly used on the Guernsey to Gatwick route, particularly on the red eye and evening services.
There has been a reduced service between Guernsey and Gatwick during the pandemic, however the airline confirmed it would be offering up to six return flights a day between the island and the capital next summer, as well as services to Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Exeter and Leeds Bradford.
There are also tickets on sale for services between Alderney and Guernsey and Alderney and Southampton.
The airline will also be offering a service to Southampton, but it is still finalising details with Blue Islands. The airlines codeshare the route.
Aurigny also confirmed that it would be keeping its assurance policy for all bookings for travel up to the end of October 2022.
This allows travellers to cancel flights up to three hours in advance and receive a credit voucher for the flight booking.
Flights are on sale up to 29 October 2022.
