The fund supports islanders who give up their time to develop community activities.
Baking and frying equipment, large tea and coffee pots, jugs, and dozens of glasses, mugs, and teaspoons were amongst the items replenished, and will benefit schools and other large groups visiting the island.
Lihou Island warden Steve Sarre was pleased with the new items, as the old ones were nearing the end of their useful life.
‘Each year, we welcome hundreds adults and children to Lihou who make use of the facilities and some things inevitably wear out or get damaged from time to time, so it is important to renew and replace them for everyone to enjoy,’ he said.
‘The donation from Condor has helped us update our kit which is very much appreciated.’
The Condor Community Fund focuses on sustainability, local benefit and enjoyment for others so Condor commercial director Greg Yeoman said it was happy to have supported Lihou House.
‘We are delighted to be able help Steve for the work he and his team of volunteers put in locally and hope the equipment will prove useful for the many visitors who spend time in Lihou over the coming years.’
The maintenance of Lihou House is funded through donations to the Lihou Charitable Trust, which was set up in 2005, and fundraising is organised through The Friends of Lihou.
