Worldle players left guessing
MANY geography lovers across the globe were left scratching their heads yesterday, after popular map quiz Worldle featured the Bailiwick as its country of the day.
The online game was launched in January after the success of the popular word game Wordle.
In Worldle users have six chances to guess a country or jurisdiction, based on its outline, with one country featured each day.
It has been estimated that about a million people play the game each day.
And yesterday they were looking at a picture featuring the outlines of Guernsey, Herm, Sark and Alderney.
While many islanders were thrilled to get the answer immediately, many international guessers had a harder time.
One person in Louisiana, who used all their guesses to guess the Bailiwick, Tweeted: ‘I call foul on this one. This place is not its own country.’
A player in Spain, who did not guess the right answer, was also unimpressed. ‘I don’t like when countries are invented,’ they wrote.
Another person Tweeted: ‘I know people from this place, but I would never in my life guess this place.’
But some people did enjoy the challenge.
Another player in Maine manage to get it in four guesses. ‘I love obscure geography,’ they Tweeted.
Visit Guernsey was sharing the quiz on its social media platforms.
