REGISTRATION is now open for the 25th Saffery Rotary Walk that sees islanders raise money for a number of charities by walking around the island.

The walk will take place on Saturday 10 June and organisers are urging as many people as possible to get involved to celebrate its quarter century.

‘The walk is embedded in our culture and many of our staff give their time to make sure it runs smoothly. It’s our way of giving back to the community of Guernsey. I would encourage anyone who’s up for a challenge to sign up and start training for our 25th walk. You’ve got plenty of time to build up to the 39 miles challenge,’ said Saffery Champness director Lisa Vizia.

Over the past 24 years, more than £920,000 has been raised which goes directly to the charities, thanks to the financial contributions of the sponsors which covers running costs.

The event’s 25th anniversary is made even more special as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of event partners the Rotary Club of Guernsey.

Given the double celebration, both organisations are hoping to break its record for number of entrants and sponsorship raised to maximise the benefit to local charities.

‘The 2023 walk will be a huge milestone for us all to celebrate, in the knowledge that due to the determination of so many walkers taking part, many others in our community will be able to benefit from the funds raised at such a difficult time,’ said Rotary Club of Guernsey president Brian Acton.

Registration costs £30, however anyone who registers before the end of January will get an early bird discount price of £25.

There will also be an option for families who wish to walk together on a much shorter course in the Guernsey Family Walk, for which registration details will be available in March.

Entry forms and more information are available online at safferyrotarywalk.org.gg/registration.
