AFM management seeking buyout

SOME of the businesses affected by the demise of Garenne Construction Group are remaining tight-lipped on the matter.

But one of them. Amalgamated Facilities Management (AFM), confirmed that it was actively pursuing a management buyout.

Garenne, which was also the parent company for Granite Le Pelley and Rabeys Commercial Vehicles, fell into liquidation last week following the collapse of its Jersey business, Cameron’s.

In a statement, AFM said that it was looking to conclude a management buyout imminently. This would transfer the full ownership of AFM away from Garenne and its appointed administrators.

‘We strongly believe that the AFM management are in the best position to lead AFM going forward, allowing for a seamless transition that allows the company to grow from strength to strength as we have been doing over the last three years,’ it said.

The company added that it was grateful for the support and commitment of its 320 staff, and that the buyout would provide them and suppliers with stability.

Granite Le Pelley and Rabeys Commercial Vehicles were unavailable for comment.

Interpath Advisory and KPMG, which are jointly responsible for liquidating the group, said that they did not have any further substantive statements to make following the announcement on Friday.

Geomarine, which was part of Garenne until it completed its own management buyout in November, said it was sad to learn about the group going into liquidation.

‘We enjoyed the support of Garenne for most of Geomarine’s 25-year history. We are now 100% independently owned and wish the best to the directors and employees of the companies still owned by Garenne as they also seek to move to new ownership.’
