Work started in January and has been conducted in stages, with changing road arrangements. The next stage will see the road between Havilland Street and Victoria Road shut, while Doyle Road and the northern section of Vauvert also close, meaning the entire junction will be blocked off.

Guernsey Electricity confirmed this phase would run until 6 April – the Friday after Easter.

‘This is being carried out as part of the ongoing improvement project in the Grange, Doyle Road and Brock Road and will enable Guernsey Electricity to replace the existing low voltage pillar and streetlighting in the area,’ a utility spokesman said.

‘The project will also act as enabling works in advance of further infrastructure upgrades in the area commencing later in April.’

Eastbound traffic will be diverted down Doyle Road, through Elm Grove and down Candie Road.

For Westbound traffic, Vauvert’s one-way system will be reversed to go westbound, and vehicles will then go down La Couperderie to Victoria Road.

Vauvert primary school is on Vauvert, and is often busy with parents on weekdays.

The schools break up on 22 March.

Guernsey Electricity closed Prince Albert Road on Monday for five weeks to upgrade high voltage cables as part of the work to link up with the new Princess Elizabeth Hospital substation.
