Currently Moulin Huet de Haut on La Rue Gros Jean is a small cottage, with land leading towards the south cliffs.

It is proposed the existing building is to be demolished and replaced with a three-bedroom home with an unusual design.

One ‘block’ would make a garage for two cars.

There would be a courtyard, with a two-storey block on one side containing two en-suite bathrooms on the ground floor and a master suite upstairs.

One another side of the courtyard would be another block, with the main entrance, kitchen and dining area.

There would then be another courtyard, with the last block containing the living and TV rooms.

The blocks’ exterior would be clad with dark stained timber and have flat roofs.

In the application, it was stated that there was an eclectic mix of local architectural styles nearby. It was also noted that the character of the area is ‘distinctively rural with an absence of urban or suburban features’.

Apart from a neighbouring house, the property is completely surrounded by fields.

Part of the house would extend into agricultural land.

A previous attempt last year to get part of that land certified as a domestic garden – which would make it easier to get permission to develop – was refused.

The plans included a design statement from Scottish architects Dualchas Architects.

‘Through a sensitive approach of using the landscape and wider context to inform the design, along with the use of high quality vernacular materials, the proposed new dwelling house will make the most of the stunning site while simultaneously blending into the surrounding wild landscape,’ it said.

‘The form, massing and siting reflect the traditional local architectural forms, providing a suitable proposal for the site that both works with and enhances its surroundings.’

The property, which was previously called Jonita, was sold for £715,000 in 2019.
