Runners had the option of three distances – 500m, 5km or five miles.

‘It’s been fantastically successful and we’re delighted that the weather held up,’ said Headway Guernsey executive director Philippa Stahelin.

‘There were just under 100 people taking part, but it’s a free event and some of the disability groups came down.

‘Some of our Headway members have walked it but it’s just a fun event for everyone and there was something for everyone.’

Lucie Fox-Pegg was taking part in the 5km run wearing a pink construction hat.

‘I’ve had this hat for ages after we were going to do a construction project, but this is its first outing,’ she said.

‘Headway is a brilliant organisation that forms part of the Guernsey community, it’s great to support local charities and events like this take a lot of effort and planning so it’s great to get involved.’

Two hats which caught the attention of others were those of sisters Charlotte Wright and Anastasia Hardwick, who decided to dress as a fruit salad.

‘It’s a great cause and it’s a bit of fun on a Sunday morning,’ they said.

‘We wanted to come as a fruit salad because we’re sisters and we’re here to have a great time.’

Headway Guernsey supports people living with the long-term effects of a brain injury and their family.

Staff help those affected to rebuild their confidence, relearn lost skills and support each other through cognitive, physical and social programmes, working closely with the brain injury team at the hospital.
