Guernsey Street Festival volunteers started their Sunday in town at about 8am to take down the flags.

Rosie Henderson has been volunteering and helping with the bunting for about six years.

‘The cherry picker goes first and unhooks the bunting which is hung on the same hooks used for the Christmas lights,’ she said.

‘It’s my job to follow along and fold it all into a black bag, then we’ll unpack them all and dry them out and repack again until next year. Ravenscroft are working on the bunting in the Arcade and there’s a few of us doing the other bits.’

The bunting is dried out in a greenhouse in Castel, where any repairs or replacements that need to be done are undertaken.
