The properties on La Grande Rue were targeted on overnight on Friday into Saturday and possibly Saturday evening.

Retired residents Mike and Jeanne, who did not wish to give their surname, were loading items into the boot of their car on Saturday morning when they noticed the windscreen had been smashed.

‘As far as we’re concerned, they used a brick in the hedge veg box at our neighbours’ house opposite,’ said Mike.

‘The police reckon they threw it at the windscreen it bounced down onto the windscreen wiper and missed the bodywork and the lights.

‘It’s not too bad, it’s just a bit of an inconvenience as we won’t have a car while it get fixed, but hopefully insurance will cover it.’

The couple have lived in their house for more than 50 years, and other than some vandalism along the Frie Baton, they said that nothing ever usually happened in the area.

Emma Edwards and her family, who live opposite, had a wing mirror broken, a number plate stolen and human excrement smeared onto a wall.

Mrs Edwards was away for the weekend and so was unsure exactly when the vandalism took place.

‘My daughter found that her wing mirror had been kicked off her car, and my husband’s back number plate had been taken off, which is weird as he had reversed into the driveway,’ she said.

‘There was human excrement up our wall and takeaway food wrappers in the drive and on the window there were greasy smears as if food had been thrown at it.

‘That was on the Friday night, and on Saturday night when my daughter returned home, our hedge veg had been trashed and was all over the drive.

‘It’s just a bit unnerving that someone has been down our driveway and around our property and seems weird that there were two incidents on two consecutive nights at two separate properties.’

Guernsey Police are keen to speak to anyone in the area with private CCTV or a doorbell with a security camera.
