Historian Lucy Worsley helping to bring island to new audiences
Historian Lucy Worsley has been visiting Guernsey as part of a push to highlight Guernsey’s history.

She is the first of three history influencers Visit Guernsey is bringing over this spring, as well as a group of three historians over Liberation Day.
States lead marketing officer Zoe Gosling said these visits were in addition to Visit Guernsey’s existing visiting journalist programme, which helps highlight the island to potential tourists.
‘This was something we started last year, with a view of going through 2024 and into 2025, to talk more about history,’ she said.
‘There is a specific focus on the Second World War in the run up to the 80th Liberation Day.
'They [the influencers] will put our history in front of an audience who are interested in history, but may not be aware of us.’
Ms Worsley, well-known for presenting BBC history documentaries and writing biographies of powerful historical women, arrived in the island on Sunday and is due to leave the island today.
She shared a picture of herself sat in front of Fort Hommet with her nearly 300,000 followers on Facebook.
Nearly 500 people tried to guess where she was but none got it right.
Ms Gosling said the historians brought over by the tourism body would be sharing posts in the run up to Liberation Day.
She was pleased that Ms Worsley’s visit had coincided with sunny weather, which would make the island look at its best in her online content.
