Its controversial closure in February due to safety concerns caused public outrage, but since then a significant amount of silt and rubble has been cleared by the community and bedrock has been mechanically removed by F Watson & Son Ltd.
This has increased the depth of the pool around the platform to 3.5m and it will now be reopened in time for this weekend, according to the States.
'This has been a fantastic example of Guernsey’s incredible community spirit, with businesses, government and members of the public pulling together so that the platform can be reopened,' said Environment & Infrastructure president Lindsay de Sausmarez.
'As a keen swimmer myself, it’s brilliant that we can now continue to enjoy this feature of our wonderful bathing pools.'
Over the summer, additional improvements will be carried out at the bathing pools, including works on the diving platform, to further improve safety, including providing improved steps to make it easier to access the platform and works to reduce the slippiness of the boards when they are wet.
'We should all feel blessed to live in a place where magic like this can happen,' said member of the working group to reopen the platform, Adrian Sarchet.
'The community spoke, government listened, and local business facilitated a solution, largely for free, and now happy children, both large and small, will be leaping off the diving platform once again into a safer environment, thanks to the work everyone has put in.'
