The former head of Customs, who served the States for nine years as a deputy, was elected as the new constable of St Martin’s at a meeting last night.
The parish had already tried and failed once to find a candidate, and Mr Prow was the only candidate to put his name forward.
‘I was delighted to be asked,’ he said.
‘I have great respect for all the members of the douzaine and the very able and experienced senior constable, Dave Beausire. I believe that parish affairs are in very capable hands and that matters are professionally administered. My aim is to continue to contribute to this high standard.
‘I hope that my experience as a long-time senior public servant and nearly nine years as a deputy, also holding a senior position, will further assist the parish going forward.’
Mr Prow said he was brought up in St Martin’s and attended the parish school, where his late mother worked as teacher. He also has a long association with St Martin’s Football Club as a player and a junior coach.
‘I have lived in and enjoyed St Martin’s for most of my adult life and have many friends in the parish,’ he said.
‘I want to give something back by way of service.’
Mr Prow will be filling the position that was left open following the resignation of Carla Bauer.
Mr Beausire said the parish was proud to have seen Mr Prow elected.
‘I am looking forward to working with Rob,’ he said.
‘He will bring with him his vast knowledge of the States and Customs that will be invaluable to this position. The parish will be in safe hands for the foreseeable future.’
