While mainly cloudy conditions are expected, with a chance of rain or showers, the Met Office has confirmed visibility should be good, with the possibility of sunny intervals in between any precipitation.
Wind is expected to be from the southwest and blowing at a force 5, becoming gusty during any showers.
In a further break from tradition, the Red Arrows are set to open this year’s display, roaring into view at just after 6.30pm.
Appearances from a Navy Wings Harvard, a Royal Air Force Typhoon and Rich Goodwin’s Jet Pitts are scheduled to follow, with the Airborne Pyrotechnics team lighting up the sky around sunset as they bring proceedings to a close at about 7.45pm.
The Hawker Hurricane was also meant to be a part of the display, appearing immediately after the Red Arrows.
But organiser Natalie Davidson said the aircraft would now not be taking part, as the wind would be beyond its operational limits.
This, she said, could impact the overall timing schedule.
‘We will be leaving things as last-minute as we can, you never know quite what the weather is going to do, so the times of the flights might be different.’
The Red Arrows and Typhoon will be flying over from Bournemouth and the Harvard from Jersey, while the Jet Pitts and Pyrotechnics aircraft are already in Guernsey.
‘We’re delighted to have all of them taking part, the Red Arrows will be fantastic openers,’ Mrs Davidson said.
‘Having the Typhoon come is a real coup as well, it’s operational within the RAF and it’s not often we get it allocated for the display, so we are excited to have it come over.’
Parking in town will operate as normal for the event, with additional ‘Park and Stride’ facilities available from The Ladies’ College, Lukis House and Beau Sejour.
Mrs Davidson urged islanders to avoid driving or share lifts where possible.
‘The display is being held in the evening purposely so that as many people as possible can make it into town after work and school,’ she said. ‘We’re expecting it to be very busy.’
Caterers will be operating at the end of Crown Pier, where members of the RAF’s public relations and careers teams will also be based.
Mrs Davidson issued a final reminder for no drones to be flown anywhere while the display was taking place.
She thanked sponsors, local businesses and the States for their help in organising this year’s event. ‘It’s a huge undertaking and we couldn’t do it without their assistance.’
