Situated at Les Villets near Le Gouffre, Les Caches Farm boasts a collection of farmhouses and outbuildings dating from the 15th century to mid-19th century.

The heritage site, which came into The National Trust’s care in 1993, has now closed its doors for the winter, after a remarkably busy year.

As well as a steady flow of local guests, estate manager Jemma Field said the sunny months welcomed an impressive number of international visitors.

Travellers came from across the British Isles, Europe, North America and Australasia.

‘The enthusiasm was clear from the many heartfelt messages left in our visitors’ book,’ she said.

‘This is now brimming with warm words of praise and appreciation.

'Visitors have consistently highlighting the beauty of the setting and the welcoming presence of our volunteers, who remain the beating heart of the visitor experience.’

She credited the largely good weather for contributing to this summer’s higher footfall.

The season saw families enjoying picnics in the sun, walkers pausing to explore and visitors lingering in the site’s tranquillity.

But even on the cloudy days, Miss Field noted that it continued to attract curious guests – proving its growing reputation as a must-see destination.

‘This season has been both inspiring and humbling,’ she said.

‘To see Les Caches Farm thriving, filled with conversation and laughter, is a reminder of why the National Trust of Guernsey works so hard to protect and share places like this.

'Les Caches Farm has shown us that heritage is not static – it’s something that can be experienced, questioned and enjoyed by all ages.

‘For me personally, Les Caches Farm is far more than just a property – it is a living emblem of Guernsey’s history. Its simplicity and sense of place remind us of where we’ve come from, while its popularity shows how heritage can still resonate powerfully today.’

Throughout autumn and winter, maintenance projects will continue behind the scenes, to ensure the building and grounds are kept in optimal condition.

The staff thanked its volunteers, for making every visit to Les Caches Farm memorable.

Les Caches Farm will reopen to the public in May 2026. Its grounds can still be enjoyed throughout the year and are also available for booking for private functions.
