The community fundraiser in August saw swimmers, volunteers and supporters coming together to support three local charities – Dementia Friendly Guernsey, Headway Guernsey and the Guernsey Welfare Service.
‘This is the most we’ve ever raised and been able to donate to our chosen charities. We’d like to thank everyone who donated, as well as our event sponsor BWCI for their continued support,’ said Guernsey Swimming Club director Kevin Penney, who was responsible for organising the event.
Mr Penney also thanked all volunteers who took part on land and at sea.
‘Without them we simply couldn’t host such a fantastic community event.’
One of the event’s participants, 89-year-old Patsy Self, was awarded the Bill Green Memorial Trophy after becoming the oldest swimmer to complete the course.
The Guernsey Swimming Club has already begun preparations for the 2026 BWCI Open Castle Swim, and is hopeful of beating the numbers taking to the water next year.
