The charity partnership was launched at Guernsey FC Women’s latest home game on Sunday.

‘We’re really excited. There are two folds to this, we’ve got the awareness of the charity, but then we want to very much get into women’s sports,’ said Gemma Ainger from Pink Ladies Guernsey.

‘Female sport is really important in getting that message across, and for men as well, but for us, working with the team here to help especially younger women. A lot of the younger females are actually talking about breast health, checking your chest and being more aware of your body. It just felt like a really perfect collaboration and we’re really excited that they want to do this with us.’

Pink Ladies Guernsey’s logo will be sported on the sleeve of the team’s home and away kits. Also at Sunday’s game there was a QR code in the matchday programme and on the scoreboard at half-time that linked to the My Breast Friend app which guides women through breast checks.

‘We are also going to be doing some awareness raising within the stadium and buildings as well, in the toilets to get people to remember to check their chests.

‘It’s a collaboration on content, so we’ll work with the girls and vice-versa, and we’ll push things out on socials just to raise that awareness and get the islands checking more,’ said Ms Ainger.

The new partnership between Guernsey FC Women and the Pink Ladies will last for three years.

‘This kind of partnership is really important,’ said Ms Ainger.

‘We’re lucky, we’re 25 years in, we are a well-established charity brand, so we’ve got that on our side, but to have some really genuinely amazing partnerships to carry that on is great. We want to be here another 25 years, so it’s just really important about building these relationships and getting these partnerships.’
