Hundreds of people walked the causeway to get to the island to have a look around, enjoy some live music and take part in a treasure hunt around the island.

‘It’s been really busy,’ said Lihou House warden Steve Sarre.

‘I’m quite impressed because last year was a bit of a washout, but the weather has been perfect today.

‘We have had live music, the Bailiff and Lt-Governor have been over, and it’s been a really nice big social do, really.’

James Dolton and his family enjoyed exploring the island.

‘We had a walk on a lovely sunny day and they have been searching for shells, they love to keep an eye out for things,’ he said, gesturing to his two sons Xavier, 6, and Mylo, 4.

The boys said they enjoyed finding unusual shells.

‘Daddy found an ormer shell and I found a piece of a crab, a really cool rock and a shell with blue, white and pink in it,’ said Xavier.

Joanna Homan, her husband Chester and children Ari, 9, and Aubrey, 4, also enjoyed a day out on Lihou.

‘It’s been gorgeous, so nice and warm, and we always try to take the time to come across when they have events on,’ she said.
