The first farmers’ market to take place from the parish church was a busy one, with a good number of people there not long after it opened at 9am to pick up anything from meat to baked goods. Its last market after 20 years at Le Friquet Garden Centre took place late last year.
‘We’re busier than we were at the Friquet – I’m very happy with the turnout,’ said churchwarden Jan Roberts.
‘We have people here enjoying their free cups of tea as well.’
Mrs Roberts said that one of their first customers on Saturday said that she preferred the new location better.
The farmers’ market had all the same suppliers as before, but this time they were joined by Cutting Edge, a Young Enterprise group selling custom chopping boards and coasters.
‘We did late-night shopping, but this is our first market this year, and it is cool to be a part of the first one here,’ said Pierre Datta from the company.
‘It’s nice to be introduced to the world of business and we have met a lot of new people doing this.’
The market now takes place every other Saturday morning from 9am at the parish church.
