Air Commodore Lowe was born in Guernsey in 1972 and after attending the Grammar School, joined the Royal Air Force in 1992.

On completion of fast jet flying training he qualified as a pilot on the Jaguar.

He was promoted to air commodore in July 2023 and is currently head of combat air capability delivery in Headquarters Air Command and senior responsible owner for the Typhoon and F-35 Lightning programmes.

‘It’s an honour to have him here, it has made the parade very special,’ said flying officer Syd Bowsher, commanding officer.

Air Cadet Sunday is held each year to mark the anniversary of the formation of the Air Training Corps in 1941.

The RAF Air Cadets was formed as an essential part of the Royal Air Force, supplying better-trained and experienced personnel during times of war. It has since evolved into the largest air cadet organisation in the world.

Awards were handed out and new cadets were officially enrolled.

Sixteen-year-old Corporal Marley Hatchard was awarded his wings and a trophy for his first solo flight which he completed last year.

‘It was great to be in control of the plane, it felt freeing. It was great being recognised today, I wasn’t expecting it,’ he said.

When he is not taking part in Air Cadets events Marley spends his time making factual videos on aircraft for his YouTube channel MHAVIATION.

Rohan Morris, 17, was promoted to Sergeant.

‘I’ve been doing it for a long time, it’s been five or six years and a lot of times when I was corporal I would take over during a flight if needed and prove my leadership,’ he said.
