Data centre fire causes booking disruption for Brittany Ferries

Ferry customers were left unable to make or amend bookings after a fire in an IBM data centre late last week.

Brittany Ferries said it was unable to access its reservations system so customers were unable to book either online or through its contact centre.

Brittany Ferries said it was unable to access its reservations system so customers were unable to book either online or through its contact centre.

Passengers with existing bookings were unaffected, although the outage meant that boarding cards had to be written out by hand on a busy Liberation Day.

IBM has been working to resolve the issue and the system was expected to be back up and running by this morning.

To add to the disruption of the past few days, Brittany Ferries also had to cancel Sunday’s Voyager sailings due to the weather, with passengers having to be moved to the Monday and Tuesday sailings.
