As temperatures on Thursday peaked at 36.4C, several days of extreme heat caused intermittent issues to the airport’s air conditioning system and security screening equipment in the terminal building.
Well-established contingency measures were put in place to ease conditions and maintain safe, secure and continuous operations.
Industrial fans were installed to improve air circulation and 120 cases of complimentary bottled water were distributed to passengers in the departures lounge across three days.
Further interim measures are being taken to improve the resilience of air conditioning systems across the terminal building.
Earlier in the week, passengers were briefly advised to arrive at the airport earlier than usual because the heat was causing issues with its luggage system, meaning longer than usual check-in, bag drop and security processing times. That has now been rectified.
Guernsey Ports said it was grateful to passengers for their patience and understanding during this period.
