Scaffolding has been erected for work to repair the roof, after the church had to wait some time for the scaffolders and roofers to be available.
On top of that, church warden Colin Guilbert said there had been a wedding booked at the church on 9 May so he said ‘with the cooperation of all concerned’ the start of the work was delayed so the scaffolding would not appear in the wedding photos.
He was not able to say how long the work might take, since it was dependent on the weather and the availability of tradesmen.
The cost is being covered by the church’s insurance.
Meanwhile, he said it was ‘business as usual’.
‘The scaffold and associated work is having no impact on church services nor any activities.’
