The meeting at Les Beaucamps High School takes place from 10am on Saturday 11 July.
It has been jointly organised by the Castel douzaine and the Policy & Resources Committee, after the senior committee said it would be happy to present at any events the parishes might wish to stage. It said that Castel was the only parish to respond positively.
‘There is some apparent confusion from two parishes since the [douzaine liaison group] meeting on 5 June where I said that P&R would attend any public meetings organised by the parishes,’ said P&R member Deputy Steve Falla.
‘Castel made an approach immediately after that meeting and I’m very grateful to them for now agreeing to open up this meeting to all islanders.’
Castel senior constable Kelvin Hudson said: ‘We decided to take P&R up on its offer as we felt it was important that parishioners had the opportunity to meet members of the committee to discuss its proposals.
‘Once we became aware that we were the only parish to respond, we agreed with P&R to make it an island-wide event rather than Castel only.
‘We hope as many islanders as possible attend.’
The committee is also appearing in Alderney on Monday evening, but its approach to face-to-face engagement with the public is in stark contrast to that demonstrated by previous iterations of the committee during previous debates.
Some deputies have criticised the committee’s enthusiasm for engagement via live-streamed question and answer sessions rather than public meetings, but P&R said its outreach was far greater online.
It is understood that it intends to stage one final live-streamed session before the debate on 15 July.
The committee is also due to appear before a Scrutiny panel at 10am on Monday morning at the Castel Douzaine Room.
