Organised by the Rotary Club of Guernsey, the competitions are open to anyone aged 17 or under, and this year carries the theme of ‘friendship’.
‘We know there are so many talented young people in Guernsey, and these competitions are a wonderful opportunity for them to showcase their creativity,’ said Rotary Guernsey youth service lead Julie Bulpitt, who is coordinating the competitions.
‘The theme of friendship offers endless possibilities, and we’re looking forward to seeing the many different ways young people interpret the theme through art and photography.’
Entries from paintings and drawings to collages and digital artworks are all invited, and photos taken on any device are likewise accepted.
‘Whether someone already enjoys art or photography or simply wants to have a go, we’d encourage them to enter,’ Mrs Bulpitt said.
The competition is split into age categories, with 10s and under, 11 to 13s, and 14 to 17-year-olds.
The closing date for entries is Tuesday 1 September. Rotary Guernsey has partnered with Guernsey Arts to enable every entry to then be displayed at the George Crossan Gallery in the Market Building from 1 October until 10 November.
‘Guernsey Arts is thrilled to be working with Rotary Guernsey to help promote and encourage creative engagement among young people,’ said Guernsey Arts community and public realm officer Jade Kershaw.
‘We can’t wait to see the entries received.’
Winners in each age category of both competitions will receive a special experience prize, and the winning entries will represent Guernsey in the Rotary district judging, with district winners progressing to the national finals.
