He was travelling up to Manchester yesterday for the match, which will be played at Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park this afternoon, kicking off at 3pm.
The lead-up to the ‘big match’ will feature in documentary Silver Lions: Football Dreams Never Retire made by Tracy Willits from York St John University.
It is shaping up to be an exciting game for Martel and his England teammates. They have played the German side before, with the most recent meeting between the two sides ending in a draw.
‘We played them two years ago down in Wales and we had a World Cup down there and we beat them in the semi-finals, and then we played them in Japan and they beat us there, but we found out that they had some ex-pros in their side. Last-time we played them it was a 1-1 draw,’ Martel told the Guernsey Press last month.
