Islanders can register now via the AG Night Ride website to join the fundraising cycling challenge, which will raise money to help Autism Guernsey deliver its services across the bailiwick.
‘Autism Guernsey delivers invaluable services within our community and this event is a brilliant way for islanders to come together, get active and make a real difference,’ said Richard Searle, managing director of BDO Guernsey, ride sponsor of the event alongside the Northern Trust Guernsey Charitable Trust as lead sponsor.
‘We hope everyone will light up their bikes and enter into the spirit of the event,’ said Autism Guernsey director Sean Cheong.
‘It’s a fantastic community event and will bring everyone together for a very important cause. It costs more than £400,000 to run Autism Guernsey each year, so every penny helps.’
Those participating in the challenge will set off at 5pm on Saturday 26 September from L’Ancresse Golf Club to take on one of three routes – 10, 25 or 50 miles.
‘The 50-mile route will be a challenge,’ said Mrs Cheong, ‘whereas the 10-mile route is fantastic for families’.
Food and drink will be available for riders at the finish line, and a half-way snack station will be in place for the 50-milers.
Autism Guernsey hopes to now make the ride an annual event.
