Many were there waiting before the doors to the school were opened.
Headteacher Verona Tomlin was there to congratulate students on their results.
‘It has been a challenging year with the merger so huge thanks to the staff and students,’ she said.
‘There is a mix of emotions – I love today and hate it, some of our students will be happy and others will be disappointed.’
She said support was available for any students who are disappointed with their results.
Sixteen-year-old Joe de Carteret said he was pleased with his grades.
‘I got mainly 8s and then some 6s and 7s,’ he said.
Joe Murfitt, 16, received six 9s and three 7s. ‘It went really well,’ he said.
Both are continuing on to Sixth Form to study maths and physics at A-level, as well as the RSL Level 3 music technology course offered by the School of Popular Music.
Ida Stewart, 16, was over the moon with her physics result.
‘In physics they were going to put me in for foundation and we had to do lots of stuff for me to be able to do higher and I got an 8,’ she said.
She will go to the Sixth Form Centre next year to study biology, chemistry and environmental science.
Tegwen du Plessis, 16, secured her position on the Level 2 creative and digital arts course at The Guernsey Institute, having passed three of her subjects.
‘It didn’t go very well but I have the marks I need to go to college,’ she said.
Tegwen credited her friends for helping her get through her GCSEs.
