In place of her late father, Kelly Ogier was accompanied ‘down the aisle’ on her beloved horse Tink to husband Justin at St Pierre Park Hotel earlier this month. The wedding united two of Guernsey’s best-known showjumpers, while marking the end of Mrs Ogier’s working partnership with Tink. Both rider and horse had recently retired due to injuries.
The picture-perfect story has since been picked up by national media, with photographs taken by local photographer Tracey Bougourd, of Adora’Bubble Photography, accompanying the coverage.
‘It still feels completely surreal that our wedding has made national news,’ said Mrs Ogier.
‘What was such a deeply personal and special day for us has now been seen by people across the country, we honestly can’t believe it.
‘From the moment we said “I do”, to Tink’s incredibly special role in walking me down the aisle in Dad’s absence, our day was filled with so much love, emotion and memories that we will treasure forever.’
Photographer Mrs Bougourd is close friends with the couple, having photographed their 13-year-old son Seth Owen growing up from a very young age. She said it was wonderful to open the newspapers and find her photographs featured, with the story appearing in four publications.
‘I’ve had so many comments, which has been nice, and I’ve had people stopping me as well,’ she said.
‘I’m sure it’s the story that made the paper, not my photo, but I’m still proud anyway.’
She said Tink had also proved to be a model subject – despite the old warning about not working with animals.
‘He was brilliant,’ she said. ‘He was so composed – he was actually falling asleep for photos.’
Mrs Ogier thanked Mrs Bougourd for the photographs as well as Tom Pinsard for capturing video footage of the day.
‘To think our little love story has now made the national papers is just incredible,’ she said.
‘We couldn’t be prouder of the day we created together.’
