Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez said in response to a question from Deputy Gavin St Pier about what progress has been made on agreeing terms with the Victor Hugo Centre.

‘The heads of terms are in an advanced stage and have been largely agreed. The outstanding items are currently being finalised with input from both parties’ legal advisers,’ said Policy & Resources president Lindsay de Sausmarez, in response to questions from Deputy Gavin St Pier in the States.

‘Once the heads of terms are agreed, the agreement to lease and lease documentation will be prepared. A public statement will be issued jointly at the conclusion of the process.’

Deputy Jayne Ozanne asked if the delay was down to a resource issue or prioritisation issue. Deputy de Sausmarez said that she was not aware of a resource issue and that it was down to legal processes.

Deputy Neil Inder asked whether probation officers had been moved from the second floor of the building to allow the Victor Hugo Centre to get into the building to start making the changes as approved by planning in the summer.

‘I know that the Probation Service is a well considered issue in relation to that building, and I understand that we do have a solution that is nearing completion. I don’t have a definitive update to provide, but I will provide it as soon as one is available,’ said Deputy De Sausmarez.

Deputy Inder asked for early confirmation. ‘We were told very early on in our [previous] term that the probation service was going to move in 18 months’ time, well, that’s five years ago,’ he said.
