‘People parked in unloading bays doesn’t make the job any easier’

I work as a delivery driver. Road closures are bad enough, but to add to the stress, nine times out of 10 there are people parked on the unloading bays, who shouldn’t be there.

This is a real problem to myself and other delivery drivers who are just trying to do their job. One of the places is in Le Pollet.

Drivers are sat looking at their phones while passengers are across the road purchasing takeaway coffees. Also drivers waiting while passengers are shopping.

The excuses that some come out with would be laughable if it wasn’t so frustrating. What is even worse, one particular traffic warden, whom I have had three encounters with, is targeting me and completely ignoring the culprits. He has told me I have to keep driving around and around till unloading bay is free.

If I did what he suggested, I would be working till midnight. How unfair is this?

Why is this traffic warden turning a blind eye to people who are parking illegally and giving delivery drivers the flack?

This must be happening everywhere.

It doesn’t make the job any easier.
