Sarnian table tennis duo face a frustrating wait

THERE is an air of frustration for the Guernsey table tennis duo of Alice Loveridge and Dawn Morgan in Scotland.

When the women's team event gets under way on Thursday morning, Loveridge and Morgan will simply have to sit and watch.

Although they are able enough to win matches as a team of two, the competition rules simply will not allow it and without a third player the two women with 25 Guernsey singles titles between them will simply have to bide their time until next week's singles and doubles competitions.

'We so wanted to play in the team event and it is a frustrating wait,' said Morgan who, despite having 30 years on her team-mate, will be the junior partner when the doubles starts, such is Loveridge's outstanding ability.
