Ravenscroft shows class as Tigers bounce back

THEY blew the Premiership on the final day, but Cobo Tigers came bouncing back to claim their second piece of major silverware at KGV on Saturday.

The inaugural Swoffers Bataille Cup featuring the four Premiership sides in grass T20 action had been scheduled to be played over two days, but Friday's mini monsoon wiped out any chance of any evening semi-final action, so everything was packed into one long day, with the back-to-back games producing some entertaining cricket.

That saw the Tigers just about see off Odey ORs who can look back, with some justification, and think they should have chased down their 102 target in 16 overs.

But ultimately the Tigers held their nerve, ORs did not, and Cobo were through to the final and a meeting with a 2mi Wanderers side who had eased past the Premiership champions Miton Optimal in the morning game.

The final saw the spectacular hitting of Tim Ravenscroft and Alex Bushell, coupled with the developing bowling skills of youngsters Josh Butler and Tom Veillard, prove too much for Wanderers who were crushed by 92 runs in a one-sided game which was always likely to be that once Ravenscroft showed his class in the first innings.
