Frustrating end but Andy has a 'fantastic first year'
ANDY PRIAULX was hoping his first season racing in America in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship would end as it began with a podium finish.
However, that was not to be as the BMW Z4 GTLM he was sharing with Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand ground to a halt and retired with less than three hours of the 10-hour long Petit Le Mans race completed.
'We have done our best job and the rest was over to destiny,' Priaulx said.
'For me there are a lot of positives and so I can't be too downbeat. We have come this far with a chance to win and I have had a fantastic first year in America.'
This also meant the end of any hopes of the driver title, but Priaulx could still stay positive as he had had an impressive first year racing in the USCC.
'It is a disappointing end to the year. We have been leading the championship at times, have come here still in with a chance of it and I think everyone in the team has done a great job to get this far,' he said.
