Watson through to second round in Indian Wells
HEATHER WATSON had to overcome a Julia Goerges fightback before she booked her place in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells yesterday.

The British No. 1 took a tight first set against her German opponent and was serving for the match at 5-3 in the second set, but Goerges won four successive games to force a deciding set.
Eventually, though, Watson came through 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in 2hr 25min. to earn a meeting with 29th seed Camila Giorgi of Italy.
