'Exceptional' Moran holds off Warwick
THE all-time hill record remains intact for another year, but Scott Moran and Darren Warwick again both proved their brilliance at Le Val des Terres on Saturday.
Rounds 21 and 22 of the British National Hill Climb Championship rolled into St Peter Port and on his home hill, Warwick came incredibly close to at least one famous win.
With both he and five-time championship title winner Moran going flat out, it was the UK star who secured top billing in both top-12 run-offs – but not by much.
Moran's measure of consistency was illustrated by clocking the same time – 27.11sec. – in both cases, which was just enough to see off the challenge of Warwick with efforts of 27.24 and 27.28 respectively.
Richard Spedding finished third in the first run-off, while that spot on the bottom row of the podium transferred to Trevor Willis a few hours later.
