Edwards edges out Beere in World Cup final tiebreak
LUCY BEERE'S dream of winning the Women's World Cup at the Warilla club in New South Wales is over – although the adopted Sarnian put up a great display in the final before giving best to New Zealander Jo Edwards, universally regarded as the best woman bowler in the world.

The 34-year-old Beere took her formidable opponent to a tiebreak and actually scored more shots than the classy Kiwi over 20 fascinating ends, but the records show that Edwards won the prestigious title for the fifth time with an 8-5, 2-9, 4-1 scorecard.
