Fazakerley out of cricket's big matches
JUST a day ahead of their inter-insular showdown, Guernsey have been dealt a huge blow as star player Will Fazakerley has been ruled out.
Furthermore, the stress fracture of the back for the 19-year-old means he will now also not be part of the squad that travels to South Africa for World Cricket League Division Five next week.
The Leicestershire all-rounder has been replaced in both 14-man squads for tomorrow’s KGV encounter against Jersey and then the subsequent WCL tournament by Lucas Barker.
Barker could yet slot straight into Ash Wright’s starting XI for tomorrow, but either way, the loss of Fazakerley is a huge blow after he received news of scan results last night that confirmed the worst case scenario.
