Bels to ‘move in a different direction’
BELGRAVE WANDERERS have changed their coach on the eve of the new FNB Priaulx League season.
Chris Le Friec has taken charge of the first team after Stuart Simon stepped down.
‘Following conversations with the club exec, Stuart Simon has decided to stand down as first team coach,’ said a club statement.
‘It was mutually agreed that now is the right time for Bels to move in a slightly different direction. With immediate effect Chris Le Friec will take charge of the first team, assisted by the current coaching team.
‘The club would like to thank Stuart for his commitment over the last two seasons in assisting with the club’s ongoing development and we hope to continue seeing him around The Track in the future.’
In the run-up to the new season, Bels had endured mixed fortunes in the Rawlinson Cup, starting off with a 4-1 victory over Sylvans before being beaten 5-0 by Rovers in the semi-finals.
They begin their Priaulx League campaign at home to Rangers on Saturday.
