Sally Carns will be taking on the role of netball development officer alongside her continued commitment to the head coach post.

She has been a popular figure in the sport locally since becoming the Guernsey Netball Association’s first funded head coach in early 2023, a role she maintained by travelling frequently to the island from her UK base.

Carns will now be relocating to the island full-time and combining both roles, which means filling the vacant development officer post which was previously held by Amy Fallaize.

‘I am over the moon to be able to combine my love of performance coaching and sport development into one role for the GNA,’ she said.

‘I look forward to working closely with the netball community on-island to grow and develop the sport on and off the court, and to continue the work with coaches and performance squads on a full-time basis.

‘I am very grateful to the GNA for the opportunity to shape this exciting role going forward.’

GNA performance director Jeremy Frith said they were ‘delighted’ that Carns has taken on the role.

‘She’s already had a significant impact across the island team and the player pathway, and we can all be excited about what she will now be able to offer us based on the island.’
