They lifted the Women’s Muratti trophy for the second year in a row, but this time in front of a home crowd of 950 people at Victoria Park. The Muratti win came at the end of a successful season for the squad, who only a month ago secured the Jersey Combination Women’s Division title as Guernsey FC, after going through their first league campaign unbeaten.
‘It’s a good feeling – we’re getting used to this. The girls finally found a way to win and they deserve everything they get,’ said proud Guernsey coach Anna Gauvain at full-time.

Guernsey came back from 1-0 down at half time to 2-1 winners thanks to two quick goals from Calleigh Hedley. The first of three Guernsey goalkeepers over the 101 minutes, Emma Queripel, also impressed with a crucial penalty save to keep Guernsey in the game before half time at 0-1.
‘Today I thought the first 10-15 minutes was really intense. Everyone was concentrating so much and it was close. Everyone was figuring each other out and seeing where we could find the gaps, find those little pockets of space. I thought Chloe Ingrouille was amazing when she was on the ball today, that just shows her ability, coming up against a strong opposition,’ said Gauvain.
‘Emma saving the penalty as well was a game-changer, because had we been 2-0 down that might have been a different story.
‘At half-time, we had every confidence in the girls. We were making chances, Calleigh was unlucky with a couple, and even at the end there, Candice hit the bar. We were creating chances and I think the girls will be really pleased with their performance.’
