Veteran Touzeau was the fastest rider at Sunday’s Cobo 25-mile time-trial in 52min. 53sec., using his fine form and relatively low winds to lower Tony Bleasdale’s over-40s course record by 1min. 49sec.

Having made his Games bow as a mountain biker, young Davey lit up the roads with a 54-06 ride for second overall on the day but also a new junior 16-17 record.

He beat the prior mark of Jack Reed by a huge 2-47 margin.

Bleasdale ultimately finished the day no records poorer than before, putting in 55-16 for third and alongside that shaving 1-02 off Paul Brehaut’s over-50s best.

Jamy Petit-Fulgoni was the sole female competitor and placed seventh overall with a 66-41.

On the Friday evening, fellow Games rider Charlie Tourtel finished top at the Rocquaine Regatta Hill Climb – just.

The two-part event had riders tackling the ‘Pleinmont’ and ‘Imperial’ road hills, with Tourtel posting a cumulative 2-58 to edge rival mountain-bike star Zach Smith by just 1sec.

There was little between Adam Torode (3-03), James Marshall (3-04) and Seth Davey (3-05) in the next three positions.

Games rider Marshall had covered the first run in 1-37, inching Smith by 1sec. and Tourtel and Torode by 2sec.

Tourtel had his chance to shine on the second hill, which he won in 1-19.

That proved decisive as Smith followed in 1-21, Torode 1-24 and Davey 1-25.

Smith had the added success of setting U16 records for both hills, on each occasion slashing 4sec. from marks held by Chay Kennedy-Cook.

Holly Smith took women’s honours in 4-49 combined from sister Amy.
