In the men’s event, Olly Cull - who is at 11 in the LTA rankings - teamed up for victory with Ben Inder as they overcame father-and-son duo Matt and Liam De La Mare 6-3 7-5 in a hotly-contested final.

Liam De La Mare himself is the UK’s top-ranked U18 player, while Cull was following up his recent success alongside some of Great Britain’s best in Guernsey’s own national grade one event.

It was another De La Mare family pairing who claimed victory in the women’s event, as 15-year-old Chloe - number one in the LTA rankings - partnered her aunt Michelle De Villiers to a 6-4 6-3 success over Tracy Hubert and Debbie Allen.

Cull and Hubert, meanwhile, came together to take the mixed honours, proving too strong for Rob West and Lauren Watson-Steele with a 6-2 6-4 win in the final.

Matt De La Mare and Mauro Becker won the men’s vets, Debbie Allen and Andi Ferbrache the women’s vets, and Louise Inder and James Sherborne the growing over-60s ‘legends’ category.

Liam De La Mare and padel newcomer Jack Bachmann took the junior title while top seeds Danny Conchar and Rocco Elliot triumphed in the U14 event.

Guernsey’s leading players will now be looking ahead to the padel inter-insular, with the Sarnians hosting Jersey on the 13-14 September.
