He and younger sister Chloe have both been selected to represent their country in the FIP Junior World Cup, which gets under way in Spain this week.
At just 15, Chloe is currently the top-ranked player overall in the LTA rankings, as well as leading the way in her age group, and is excited to have the opportunity to compete at this level.
‘I definitely don’t know what the competition is going to be like, but I know quite a lot of the people going so I’m really looking forward to the experience,’ she said.
Seventeen-year-old Liam, meanwhile, is at number two in the national standings for U18s and won all four matches against Jersey earlier this month, playing in the top pair alongside Olly Cull.
And with that experience banked, he is now relishing the prospect of competing among some of the world’s best juniors in an international environment.
‘It’s the first time for me playing in a proper team event for GB and it should be a really cool experience,’ he said.
‘It’s very tough to know how we’ll do, but we’re starting in the qualifying and I know there are a few tough nations who we might come against.’
The competition, which is being held in the city of Reus in Catalonia, will see GB joining at the qualification stage.
Both the men and women will be aiming to win through to the finals and get the chance to face some of the sport’s biggest nations, including the hosts, who are reigning team champions in each category.
Qualifying gets under way on Friday with ties consisting of best of three matches across U14, U16, and U18 age-groups.
